DUTIES:
This Registered Nurse position is the Charge Nurse for the 1K Specialty Clinic. The candidate assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients utlizing services provided in the 1K specialty clinics. He/she performs direct patient care and provides direction in clinic operations. Duties and responsibilities include day to day oversight of patient flow, assisting with staff development, serving as a resource for interdisciplinary team, and using collaborative approaches to ensure safety and quality patient care. The Charge Nurse must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated dependability, be self directed, and flexible in assignments and time scheduling. The Charge Nurse is responsible to the Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Surgery (ASF) /Specialty Clinics.

Tour: 7:30a! - 4p with rotation to 8:30a to 5p

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not

authorized for this position and will not be reimbursed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship:
Citizen of the United States (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens per VA Handbook 5005/2, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3g).

Education:
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency

and

accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In ! cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possessi! on of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.

Licensure

: Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

English Language Proficiency:
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Physical Standards: Satisfactory physical examination as determined by the Employee Health Unit upon appointment only. Some of the functional requirements are: Heavy lifting 45 pounds and over, heavy carrying over 45 pounds and over, straight pulling 4 hours , reaching above shoulders, walking 8 hours, repeated bending and ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Nurse I, level I-Associate Degree or d! iploma in nursing; no experience

Nurse I, level 2-! Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing, approx. 1 year experience

Associate Degree in Nursing and a Bachelors in a related field, no experience,

BSN, no experience

Nurse I, Level 3-Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing, approx. 2-3 years experience

OR

Associates Degree or Diploma in Nursing and Bachelors degree in a related field, approx. 1-2 years experience

OR

BSN, approx. 1-2 years experience

OR

MSN or related field with a BSN or BachelorÂ's degree in related field, no experience.

Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has docto! ral degree in a related field with no experience.

Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.

Enhanced Qualifications

:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

One year recent Medical Surgical or related clinical experience preferred

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

Demonstrated excellence of physical assessment skills

Demonstrated ability to be dependable, self directed and flexible, including flexibility in assignment and time scheduling

ACLS certification preferred

BLS certification

Professional nursing certification in area of practice preferred

Excellent customer service skills
