The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS) located in Montgomery and Tuskegee, AL is searching for a BC/BE Geriatrician, Family Practice or Internal Medicine physician to provide primary care to elderly veterans in Geriatric Primary Care/NHCU. The VA is affiliated with Morehouse School of Medicine and participates in teaching activities with the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
The Physician, who specializes in the holistic assessment and treatment of identified populations of individuals, families and groups, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases, dedicated to providing primary care to veterans. Experience with Geriatric patients is preferred. The physician will serve as one of four physicians serving in the Geriatric Primary Care clinics in Tuskegee and Montgomery.
The physician will work in collaboration and oversight of other CAVHCS clinical providers. The physician reports to the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics, Extended Care & Rehabilitation Service Line (ACOS/GEC&R).
The physician in the Tuskegee Geriatric Primary Care Clinic has oversight and clinical responsibility for a panel of veterans receiving service in the Tuskegee GPC Clinic. It consists of admitting, work-up, diagnose, performing comprehensive geriatric assessments, treat and/or provide consultation to older patients with illnesses and disorders common to the elderly. Core privileges include simple suturing & skin lesion biopsy, cryotherapy of minor skin lesions and EKG interpretation.
CAVHCS has a full spectrum of Geriatric services: 160 bed Nursing Home Care Unit, Home Based Primary Care, Geriatric Primary Care and home care services.
SALARY RANGE: Up To: $195,000.00 per year
Applicant selected for this position may be eligible to apply for an award under the provision of the education debt reduction program (EDRP) based on the availability of funds.
