Essential Functions:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, plan individualized care, identify expected outcomes, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; administers blood and blood products; starts IV’s; demonstrates CPR according to the American Heart Association standards; responds appropriately to emergency patient situations; performs activities of daily living; performs basic life support and management of arrest situations; prepares tray instruments and catheters using sterile techniques; assists physicians during procedures with manipulation, insertion/withdrawal, and administration of devices, fluids, and drugs; monitors all physiological functions for rec! ognition of basic EKG interpretation, cardiac arrhythmias, blo! od pressure, or other changes in vital signs and alerts physician and takes appropriate action under physicians direction; performs hemodynamic monitoring; manages patients with cardiac pacing catheters; performs emergency tracheostomy reinsertion; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients and when moving equipment necessary to perform essential functions; adheres to Hospital Policies and to current Infection Control and Safety standards; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and health care team in person and via the telephone and the ability to respond to overhead pages; serves as charge nurse when assigned; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited ! school of nursing as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama as a Registered Nurse.
