Essential Functions:
Practices family centered nursing according to policies and Nurse Practice Act; utilizes the Nursing process to: assess the patient, plan individualized care, identify expected outcomes, and implement/evaluate nursing interventions for patients and families; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; starts IV’s; responds to overhead pages; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered; performs basic life support and management of arrest situations; maintains appropriate supplies for procedural needs; provides appropriate care to specimens and cultures as directed by set Policies and Procedures; maintains accurate and complete medical records to include utilizing correct documentation tools and procedures and completing peri-operative assessments, pai! n assessment tools, and patient charges accurately; manages pe! ri-operative patient utilizing principles of aseptic practice and initiates corrective action when breaks occur; performs scrub/circulating duties and establishes/maintains sterile field; maintains unit specific quality control logs; accompanies patient to PACU and reports to nurse; adheres to electrosurgical safety Policy and Procedures; monitors and maintains peri-operative environment; available in hospital within thirty minutes of call; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as assigned and overtime and call as required; related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama as a Registered Nurse.
