7 on 7 off overnight pharmacist. Consult with facility staff as to each resident's pharmaceutical care inclusive of medicatio! n orders, medication administration, medication storage and related information. Dispense medication orders for the residents and assure labeling and packaging are accurate. Field calls from different regions overnight to ensure facilities receive the medication needed. Responsible for reporting and regulatory issues to the Director of Pharmacy Services.
DUTIES
1.Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal laws regarding the provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy services to residents of skilled nursing facilities.
2.Accepts medication orders from the physician or his/her agent.
3. Translates telephone orders to prescriptions or accepts faxed orders as prescriptions in accordance with current pharmacy law in the state of Alabama
4. Oversees the labeling and packaging of the prescriptions.
5. Oversees the selection of product.
6. Assures that required cautionary or auxiliary labels are affixed to the presc! ription supply.
7. Consults with the facility's staff! as to its compliance with applicable regulations in respect to the record keeping requirements for and destruction of unused medications; both controlled and non-controlled.
8. Demonstrates availability to be on-call 24 hours a day for emergency consultation on a rotational basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.Maintains a current, valid License as a registered pharmacist in good standing.
2.Maintains a current, valid certificate as a LTC pharmacist in the states where actual consulting might be provided as well.
3.Possesses a minimum two (2) years of experience in long term care pharmacy.
4.Possesses strong knowledge of state, federal and local regulations as they pertain to long term care.
5. QS1 experience is a plus, but not required.
6.Maintains rapport with outside medical professionals.
7. Excellent customer service skills for dealing with several facilities and their needs throughout the night.
8.Must be capable to performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
9.Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
