Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Manager. Will work in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, Lead Persons, and the Store Room Attendant. Will interface with Operations, Quality, Program Managers, Engineering, Safety, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, Accounts Payable, Finance, Information Technology, and with other internal as well as with external customers of the Maintenance Department. The primarily responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner is to plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities, working with input from the customer on regards to repairs, maintenance of equipment and buildings. Will prepare issued service orders with needed parts, tools, equipment, special requirements and permits as needed. Will assign service orders to an available pool of maintenance mechanics of various types of work such as Reactive Maintenance (RM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Die Maintenance (DM), and Safety Actions Request (SAR) generated from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Will lead resources of assigned service orders to completion and closure of tasks into the CMMS,and provide feedback to the service orders initiators of job statutes. This position requires experience, skills and knowledge of plant maintenance, purchasing, computer programs, and tracking of financial matters relating to budgets. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have the self-discipline to carryout planned activities in a quality, timely, and professional manner. Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, as well as superb judgment and decision-making. This position requires the ability to lead maintenance personnel to completion of assigned activities.

Work is somewhat varied and project oriented. Requires a broad understanding of organization operations, procedures, and personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, assign, and follow through completion of maintenance activities generated by a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other electronic requests.
  • Assesses scopes of work, the priorities, and the need on projects, getting clarity and understanding, identifies safety regulations and requirements, and permits required to do the work.
  • Prepare requested activities as a package for the maintenance worker to perform the task with a minimum of interruptions. Packages are not limited to but may include the following: parts needed, tools, equipment, permits required, pertinent drawings or sketches that may be needed, work instructions, special instructions, warnings, safety requirements, and/or statements of work as required.
  • Evaluate requested work on the feasibility of performing the job utilizing internal maintenance resources or contracted resources.
  • Submit Request for Quotes (RFQ) for contracted services through Purchasing following the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) utilizing a fair reasonable pricing selection for contracted services.
  • Generates and manages the department’s Capital Expense Request (CER), Management of Change (MOC), Request for Quotes (RFQ), Statement of Work (SOW), Purchase Requisitions (PR), and develops Time-Line Charts (Gantt) as needed.
  • Generate and distribute weekly reports of scheduled service orders performed on a weekly basis including feedback on statuses of pending service orders not completed during the assigned week.
  • Create Maintenance Progress Reports of service orders from weekend and shutdown assigned work.
  • Evaluate all service orders in the system including verbal and electronic requests, and assign or re-assign the status as needed for approved, waiting for approval, waiting to be plan, waiting for material, waiting to be schedule service orders for planning and scheduling purposes, and reassign those that need immediate attention.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and lead special requests issued to the Maintenance Department. This may include but not limited to; Safety Action Request, Engineering Projects, Capital Projects, updates to Manufacturer’s Standard Practice Instructions and Standard Practice Manuals.
  • Enter inventory items into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including description, min/max levels, imperative relevant information, and vendor information associated with the ordering of inventory items and equipment.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions to maintain inventory stock levels to maintain min/max levels and for generated pending service orders.
  • Prepare budget preparation and control activities as needed.
  • Must communicate effectively with others.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
  • Supervises Maintenance Technicians as needed.

Qualifications

  • Multi-craft maintenance operations experience that includes preventive maintenance knowledge, planning, scheduling, executing, and monitoring.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, knowledgeable of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.

Education & Professional Work Experience Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person*, with a minimum of five years of professional work experience.
  • 4-year Degree or Certificate of any of the following: Business Management, Project Management, Facility Management, or 5-years of Supervision or Leadership work experience.

Work Hours

4/10 workweek, be flexible, and available to work odd hours as needed.
