Health Center is a 118 bed Acute
Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children
a! nd adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot
facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast
corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia.
In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service
cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th
grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous
recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game
room, playground, basketball courts, and
gymnasium.
The multi-disciplinary staff at
Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are
clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all
treatment disciplines . Laurel
Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple
challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have
a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring
conditions ! such as intellectual disabilities, learning
disabilities, ! and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization.
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health
Center currently has a Therapist (PRN)
position at our facility . The candidate selected will be
responsible for the following :
Demonstrates
ability to establish therapeutic rapport with patients and family
members and engage them in a change
process.
Provides a safe
therapeutic environment that protects the patient’s
rights.
Documents all
clinical and other pertinent care activities within 24 hours of
service.
Adheres to all
regulatory and Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center policies
governing charting requirements.
Demonstrates
thorough knowledge of the key theories of
counseling.
Participates as
integral member of the multi-disciplinary treatment
team.
Holds initial
therapy sessions with the patient within one day of assignment. As a
guideline, sees patient in an individual s! ession one time per week;
families two times per month and group sessions
daily.
Accurately posts
charges for therapy services within one day of the
service.
Summarizes
therapeutic problems and gains semi-monthly and at all times of
Master Treatment Plan review.
Informs physicians, nurses, educators and unit
staff of key therapy issues on assigned
patients
Requirements
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in
mental health field.
Certification/Licensure as appropriate to education and
skills (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) preferred or license
eligible.
Two or more years experience in mental health or
drug/alcohol treatment setting.
Proven abilities in managing a diverse counseling case load
while maintaining appropriate
documentation.
Proven record of maintaining appropriate ethical
standards .
