Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential
Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through
eighteen. The 55,000!
square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the
southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and
Georgia. In addition to
the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and
New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12 th grade
school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities
including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground,
basketball courts, and gymnasium.

The multi-disciplinary
staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided
are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among
all treatment disciplines.
Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have
multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary
psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such
as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilit! ies, and/or
physical/sexual abuse victimization.

! Laurel Oaks Behavioral
Health Center currently has a Registered Nurse (RN) position
available on the Acute Unit during the second shift. The candidate selected will

be responsible for the following:

• Assesses

patient’s physical needs.

• Documents nursing

intervention and patient responses in progress notes.
•
Recognizes and documents signs and symptoms of illness.
•
Utilizes the nursing process in planning, providing, and evaluating
each patient’s care, and documents pertinent information
properly.

• Utilizes information from Nursing Assessment

to identify patient problems and appropriate nursing
interventions.

• Assists in developing measurable goals on

the Master Treatment Plan and/or Plan of Care that are mutually set
with the treatment team a patient.

• Modifies

nursing component of the Master Trea! tment Plan and/or Plan of Care as
required by changing patient needs as determined by evaluation of
care administered and established standards of care.
•
Responds appropriately to crisis situations

Requirements

·
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
required.

·
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
(preferred)

·
Current status in good standing as a licensed
Registered Nurse in the State of
Alabama

·
Previous nursing in a mental health setting is
preferred.
