Description
Seeking a dynamic person with excellent interpersonal skills, combined with critical thinking skills and basic medical terminology knowl edge. The advocate will be onsite at a local hospital and work closely with patients, hospital staff and government agencies to file/secure applications for programs to cover their medical expenses.
Skills Required: Ability to manage intake referrals and evaluate case to determine if the patient meets specific criteria for an application. Candidate will be working directly with patient/claimant, families and clinical staff. Ability to multitask, prioritize and adapt to a fast paced, changing environment. Position requires proficiency navigating multiple systems software and computer systems including Word, Adobe and Hospital Information Systems. Ability to condense complex information into a clear and precise picture while working independently or in tandem with our onsite nurse case manager. Ability to guide and educate prospective patients throughout the case process. Responsible for documenting all conversations with clients and medical providers, as well as federal and state administrators into the electronic file. Maintain efficient follow up throughout the entire application process, until resolution. Streamline communication between our nurse case manager, hospital staff, government agencies, and patients. Hours may be somewhat flexible. Occasional out of State travel required for training and staff meetings. Fluency in Spanish is helpful. Salary based on experience. Degree preferred but not required
Baseline knowledge of medical terminology
Required experience:
Working with people in various areas throughout a clinical setting
Computer literate with the ability to learn customer specific software applications.
Electronic computer entry, filing and scanning
Able to work in a team atmosphere with extensive focus on details
Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
