Registered Nurse
Program Overview
Located in Albuquerque, NM, Bernalillo Academy is a 39-bed sub-acute residential treatment center that serves youth between the ages of 5 and 17 with a diagnosis of Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, and other Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and Developmental Delays.
Position Overview
We have an immediate need for a full-time Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care to students by utilizing the nursing process.
Job Duties Include:
- Assesses students upon admission and throughout hospitalization utilizing observational and interviewing skills.
- Reviews overall student status every shift by reviewing physician orders, student treatment plan, and multidisciplinary notes as applicable.
- Helps to develop a! n individualized treatment plan in conjunction with student, f! amily and multidisciplinary team.
- Identifies short and long term measurable goals, including discharge planning, consistent with student care standards, nursing practice, and policies and procedures.
- Provides direct nursing care based on patient treatment plan.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Documents on all appropriate clients care topics/events/interventions.
- Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of care and modifies nursing components of the patient’s treatment plan accordingly.
12 hour Overnight Shift: Sat, Sun, Mon
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid unrestricted Registered Nursing License issued by the New Mexico State Board of Nursing.
- Psychiatric nursing experience with a child / youth population is highly preferred.
- Must be able to deliver skilled nursing care in both routine and stressful periods.
- A valid! CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association is required. CPR Trainer Certification preferred.
- Must have current NM driver’s license.
