RN New Grad Residency Program

Our Residency program is an opportunity required for all New RN Graduates, participation in the training program was designed to ease the graduates transition from a student to a newly licensed practicing professional.

The new grad nurse will begin with hospital orientation to Brookwood Medical Center. In orientation the new nurse will learn ! about the mission and values of Brookwood a member of Tenet He! althcare Corporation, our quality assurance program, workplace safety policies, benefits, and other employment information. The new nurse will then go through nursing orientation within the first few days at Brookwood which will include hospital and nursing policies and procedures, pharmacy protocols, pain assessment and management, respiratory protocols, restraints, wound care, IV therapy, and live demonstrations of medical equipment. One of the most important parts of the new graduate residency will be the field trip experience to visit other hospital units. As the newest member of the Brookwood RN staff, it is important that all new grads meet their peers in the units that support them each day. The new grad nurse will be allowed time to gradually assume the duties and responsibilities which accompany the new role under the direct guidance and supervision of a preceptor and other members of the healthcare team.

Upon acceptance into the RN Residency Program, the ! employee will be required to sign an "RN Residency Participation Agreement" outlining a two-year commitment to Brookwood Medical Center due to the extensive training and orientation that is part of the program.
